6 Anti-Aging Bedtime Habits

1. Wash off makeup

The best thing you can do to keep your face looking young and fresh is to wash it every night before bed. Going to sleep with makeup on can lead to clogged pores and oily glands, which cause pimples and make the pores on your face larger.

2.Moisturize

When you sleep, your cells get a chance to repair and rejuvenate from any damage during the day. To help your skin look healthier, apply a night cream that contains the anti-aging component hyaluronic acid.

3. Get Enough Sleep

The amount and quality of sleep you get each night influences the release of human growth hormone (HGH), which is a key factor in regulating the aging process. Try to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night to give your body time to recharge.

4. Drink Water

Our cells need water to rejuvenate and repair themselves properly. Going to bed dehydrated makes it more difficult for cells to heal while we sleep. Estimate how much water you need each day by calculating half your body weight and converting that number to ounces.

5. Don’t Eat Before Bed

Indulging in that slice of cake before bed can make your skin look wrinkled. Sugar elevates your glucose levels causing glycation rates to increase, which inhibits your collagen regeneration.

6. Prime Your Pillowcase

Bacteria from your face gets onto your pillow at night, whether you wash your face or not. Flip your pillow over regularly and change your pillowcase often. To keep your hair looking smooth and soft in the morning, sleep on a silk pillowcase.
